The instructional computing laboratories available to you are equipped with some of the most advanced engineering workstations available. They are shared by all majors and all departments of the college. The laboratories were identified as a very high priority for instructional programs a few years ago, when a committee of faculty and students, with the support of Engineering Council, advised the office of the dean that the laboratories are necessary if we are to prepare our students for the environment of work and learning they will enter when they have graduated. Moreover, advanced computation and graphics are an integral part of the problem-solving environment in which you must be trained if you are going to be in the front rank of your nation's engineers and scientists.

These laboratories are made possible by a special state grant that is sponsored by the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers. This grant is matched by industrial contributions and gifts of alumni. There are many who, along with our faculty, share the desire that you receive a modern education with the most up-to-date instrumentation available. Enjoy these laboratories and take care of them. The College of Engineering will strive to keep these laboratories as current as possible and the CCSO office will continue to present you with the best service that can be provided.
