Ansys
Ansys is a self-contained general purpose finite element program which contains many inter-related routines for the purpose of solving engineering problems via the finite element method. The software is primarily used for stress and thermal analysis.

CosmosScope
CosmosScope is used to perform post-processing of analog and digital simulation results.

Eclipse
Eclipse is an open source community whose projects are focused on building an open development platform comprised of extensible frameworks, tools and runtimes for building, deploying and managing software across the lifecycle.

Mathematica
Mathematica is a general purpose program designed for symbolic mathematics and numerical analysis.

Matlab
Matlab is a high performance interactive software package designed for scientific and engineering numeric computation. Matlab offers integration of numerical analysis, matrix computation, signal processing, and graphics.

Mentor FPGADV
Mentor Graphics FPGADV is a complete solution for developing and managing complex Verilog, VHDL, and mixed langauage designs.

OpenOffice
OpenOffice is a desktop publishing suite designed to provide a feel similar to products commonly used on PC's. It provides a very user friendly word processor, spreadsheet utility, presentation creator, drawing utility and html document editor. It also provides the flexibility to load or save documents in most common desktop publishing suite's formats.

Patran
Patran provides a complete software environment for finite element modeling derived from CAD based designs.

Pro Engineer
Pro/ENGINEER is a modeling/drafting program which aids in design projects.

Subversion
Subversion is an open source version control system.

TCAD
TCAD (Technology CAD) is a suite of software products which cover the entire range of process simulation over device and circuit and systems simulation.

Tecplot
Tecplot is plotting software with extensive 2- and 3-D capabilities for visulizing technical data from analyses, simulations, and experiements.

The Acrobat Reader (acroread) allows users to view and print PDF files.

DDD, the Data Display Debugger, is a graphical front-end for GDB and other command-line debuggers.

emacs

Firefox is a browser for viewing files and documents available on the World Wide Web.

gcc

GDB,The GNU Debugger, is a source-level debugger for C, C++, Java, Modula-2, and several other languages.

gnuplot

gzip (GNU zip) is a compression utility designed to be a replacement for 'compress'.

latex
LaTeX is a document preparation system for high-quality typesetting based on TeX. It is most often used for medium-to-large technical or scientific documents, but it can be used for almost any form of publishing.

less
Less is a program similar to more, i.e. a terminal based program for viewing text files and the output from other programs. Less offers many features beyond those that more does.

mpage
Mpage is a tool used to print multiple pages per sheet on a PostScript printer. It has the ability to print out text or PostScript documents.

mutt
Mutt is a small but very powerful text-based MIME mail client.

nqc is a simple language with a C-like syntax that can be used to program Lego's RCX programmable brick.

oCaml is a genreral-purpose programming language that supports functional, imperative, and object-oriented programming styles.

Screen is a window manager that multiplexes a physical terminal.

seamonkey
SeaMonkey is a web-browser, advanced e-mail and newsgroup client, IRC chat client, and HTML editing made simple -- all in one application.

ssh
SSh (Secure Shell) is a program to log into another computer over a network, to execute commands in a remote machine, and to move files from one machine to another. It provides strong authentication and secure communications over insecure channels.

tar
tar saves many files together into a single tape or disk archive, and can restore individual files from the archive.

top
Top is a Top-CPU usage display.

unzip
UnZip will list, test, or extract files from a ZIP archive, commonly found on DOS and Windows systems.

uquota
uquota, is an "in-house" program used to keep track of quotas.

vim
Vim, Vi IMproved, is an almost fully-compatible version of the Unix editor Vi.

webperm
webperm, is an "in-house" script to setup webspace provided on your EWS account. It can be used to enable/disable access as well as generate a simple template index page.

xemacs
XEmacs is a text editor similar to emacs, but with graphical "icons" and drop-down menus. It is especially useful for computer programming because of it's language-specific formatting abilities.

zip
Zip is a compression and file packaging utility for Unix, DOS, Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP, Macintosh, and others.
