Obtaining an EWS account

All College of Engineering students will receive a permanent account which will remain active throughout their enrollment at the University and will be valid on all EWS workstations.  All students in the college will receive notification of their account during the summer prior to their first semester at the university. Student EWS account names will be the same as their university wide netid. EWS passwords have been randomly generated and must be changed prior to first use.  We strongly recommend students do not set their EWS password to be the same as their university wide netid.

If a student is not enrolled in the College of Engineering but is taking an engineering course, the student will be able to get a temporary EWS account created for them by their professor or TA.  A temporary account is only good for the semester in which they are taking an engineering course and does not provide a free print quota.

If you do not know if you already have an EWS account click to the campus phonebook and enter in your university wide netid.  Look down towards the bottom of the page to the type
field.  If EWS is listed you have an EWS account.

Logging in and out

All EWS machines have a login box.  To login enter in your EWS account name under login and hit tab to type in your password and press enter.  You should be successfully logged in.
If for some reason you can not login try retyping your EWS user name and password again to see if that fixes the problem.  If you still have problems, our lab consultants on duty should be able to assist you.

Special note regarding Windows Workstations:  If you are attempting to login to the Windows machines your password can not be longer than eight characters.
The Unix workstations accept longer passwords.  If your EWS password is longer than eight characters you should reset your password to be between 6-8 characters long.

To logout of the workstations you will see a logout button to click on.
It is very important that you remember to logout after each session.

Changing your EWS
password

Changing your EWS password is easy and can be done via our change password webpage.
