Hooooray! I defended my thesis on July 23rd :). I will upload an electronic copy as soon as the thesis passes format check.

Welcome

Hi, I am Nagarajan. I am working for my Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). I am part of Prof. Harley T. Johnson 's Nano Electro Opto (NEO) Mechanics group.

Updates - January 2007

MRS Graduate Student Award Finalist: I have been selected as an MRS Graduate Student Award Finalist. More news at the MRS website. (Updated Feb 25th 2007)

News: I am writing my thesis. I hope to have a first draft soon. Here are some resources that I am using: uiucthesis@CTAN. An example of the implementation is available at tug.org. (same as the "grad students love coffee" example in the thesis handbook)

Research

My research areas of interest include Molecular Dynamics, Quantum dots, Optoelectronics and Thin films. I have been working on using classical Molecular Dynamics in my doctoral research to study formation of nanoscale patterns. I am also interested (and I am working on separate projects in my free time) on tight binding molecular dynamics (TBMD).

I work with Prof. Harley Johnson and Prof. Jonathan Freund on surface patterning due to ion bombardment. My research page has more description and also has a list of publications.
