Extra, Extra! Midterms take over life of UIUC student!11:25 PM | Tuesday, October 11So, it's been a little while since I've updated. Despite only taking 12 credit hours of classes, my schedule has been pretty crazy this past few weeks. Midterms are in full swing, but fear not -- the end is in sight! I'm just one short Quantum Mechanics exam away from the end of Midterm Season! In other news, while you may not see any changes to the content of this site, I have been working on it. I've been working on reading books on Javascript, PHP, and MySQL. Hopefully I'll soon be able to utilize any combination of these utilities to greatly increase the functionality of the site. I'm hoping to create some sort of "comments" system, for starters. I'll keep you posted.
That last point brings me to one other little detail -- the host of this site may or may not support PHP scripting, meaning that I may have to change hosts. Maybe I'll buy my own domain or something. I like the idea of owning www.nickwondra.com. Anyway, I'll make sure to make note of that change a few weeks before it happens so that nobody gets caught by surprise. Back to studying (or maybe sleep)! Until next time...
Apartment pictures posted12:19 AM | Wednesday, September 28Hey, everyone! After a nice weekend at home (with family bugging me for apartment pictures) I decided to work a little bit on the Media section of my site. Specifically, I created a rough foundation for what will hopefully become a very attractive and useful picture slideshow page. I borrowed Matt's digital camera and took some pictures of our common area in the apartment, as well as my room. (In the picture of my desk, note the four speakers on the desk -- two stacks of two -- and one speaker on the ground to the left of the chair. Meet my new mutant/killer sound system!) Soon I'll work on making the slideshow more thorough and prettier, but for now it will suffice.
I have a project idea that I want to start working on, and maybe I'll get it going this week. I won't reveal the secret of this project quite yet, but I'll leave you to ponder the mystery with the following clues: it has to do with music and the washing machine will most likely be involved. Have I piqued your curiousity? Muahahaha! More to follow on this... That's all for now, sports fans. Keep on truckin'!
Such a busy week!11:32 PM | Tuesday, September 20So, this week has been super busy for me. I haven't had much time to update this site much. (Sorry!) I've been mostly focused on a presentation that I have to give tomorrow in CS 210 (Ethics and Professionalism in Computer Science). It shouldn't be too bad, but it counts as the grade for my final. I guess it's good to get it over with early in the semester, though -- I'm sure I'll appreciate it when I have exams or projects due in the rest of my classes...
Speaking of projects, I'm also working on a project proposal for CS 427 (Software Engineering I). The project idea is to write an application for Palm devices where the user enters information about him/herself and when another user with similar interests is in the area, the application notifies the user. It's an interesting concept, and apparently stuff like this already exists in Japan and parts of Europe. Anyway, it's been kind of fun coming up with the project ideas with my partner, and I hope that our project proposal is picked by the powers that be as one of the projects that will actually be created through the course of the next two semesters. Well, I'm off to get my beauty sleep. I need to look good for my presentation tomorrow! Adios.
Welcome to my world.6:03 PM | Tuesday, September 13Hi everyone, and welcome to my personal web site. I have recently been getting into web development, so I thought I'd put my newly developed skills to good use by creating this site. Please bear with me as this site is still in the infantile stages of development. New content will be added as is possible, and I'm still trying to fix a few bugs. Obviously there is only a certain extent to which I can test this site on different machines and different browsers, so if you find any glaring bugs please feel free to let me know about them. Thanks for visiting! I hope you'll check back soon for more updates!
